I’m fucking pissed. No note, no nothing but some scuffs and scratches on my front fender. Time to scout the parking lot around shift change.

Fart on their desk.
(I still need to get a keyed spot on my door fixed, but I just can’t really afford the out-of-pocket on my comprehensive right now. Never found the bunghole who did it. Ugh.)

Fart-t ie r just-ass at work!

Much feels. Something similar happened to me recently. Live with the scratch, fix out of pocket or file a claim? It’s a really bad decision tree.

People’s complete lack of respect for o ther people’s property makes me so angry sometimes. Yes, accidents happen, but damn cars are expensive and body work especially so. Part of having the privilege of a driver’s license is owning up to accidents when they happen.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I think that people don’t even respect themselves anymore, let alone other people or their property. Which is part of why people can’t own up to their own mistakes.

That’ll come out with 20 seconds of light compounding by hand.

Bummer, no cameras?

A lady hit my ‘90 Corolla over the Christmas break. It messed up the plastic end of the bumper pretty good, but I wouldn’t have noticed if she hadn’t put a note in my mailbox(!) . With her number. I called her and she insisted upon making things right, with the cave at that she hoped I wouldn’t call her insurance. So I said, how about two hundred bucks? She brought me over a check the next morning, and a release of liability that her husband had printed out. Pretty amazing, rea ly.

Not all of them. See my post above.

no note = big ol’ shart

Now that you’re a mod, you’ll need comprehensive coverage on your car.
Being made a moderator is Oppo’s way of telling you that you have too much free time on your hands.

I have comprehensive, but vandalism where they can’t catch who did it has a $100 deductible. Ugh. No one pays me enough for this.

A tiny scratch like that can easily happen without the driver even noticing.
I’d have left a note (if I knew) , but honestly I think that that sort of extremely minor paint damage should just be considered normal wear an tear that is part of the risk of driving. Mostly to me it seems foolish that we don’t build cars to take this sort of minor abuse.
In any event, hopefully it cleans up well.

I bet they didn’t even notice it happen.

That makes me mad, but at least there doesn’t look to be damage that you can’t buff out, which is probably what the person who did it told himself to not feel guilty and skulk off.

Lack of accountability also plays a role I’m sure. There could also be fear and monetary reasons too, and I get that. At least leave a note that says sorry or something.

I solve this by driving crappy cars. Lessens the pain significantly.

Agreed. One time, when I was a fairly new driver, I was going down a really narrow street and I scraped up against some lady’s very new and clean looking Volvo V70 XC wagon, like 5 seconds after she got out of it! I knew I was close to her car, and I saw her turn around and throw her hands up and start yelling and I just froze. I finally rolled my window down and was like “Umm, I’m sorry” and she was screaming and yelling, and then she walked over and looked - I had huge scratches down the side of my car, and basically nothing on her car, and she was like “Oh, you didn’t actually do any damage to my car, sorry for yelling. ”

That would ruin my month... maybe even my whole year.
My oppo co worker chimed it, ‘imagine the HR discussion after that.’

Not being glib, you can polish those out, or wetsand at the absolute worst case ontario. Not worth going through insurance at all.

Yeah the scratches are actually deep, didn’t polish out.

I mean, one smelly moist fart versus actual property damage? I think the property damage is worse. You’ll probably both get in trouble, but the other guy should get in MORE trouble, so it’s worth the shart, IMHO.

The rest of mine are crappy! I kicked my poor 411 once in a fit of r
age, which hurt a little bit and then I felt bad for my good lil’ Volkswagen. Don’t kick your own cars. Smash other things if you have to. But! The Lancer is my polished turd and I’m extremely mad about this.
